5/14/10 This morning we headed off on a half-day trip with father and son duo of Ross and John Paul Jessup as our guests. We started trolling for Spanish Mackeral at the Oak Island Lighthouse and found the fish to be waiting on us.After a few passes we knew we were on our way to a good morning. After a short trolling  session we had our limit of Spanish,30 in  all with several Bluefish and 3 small Kings, which we had to release due to being undersized.I don't believe anyone went home dissappointed that day except for the fish in the box.                                                                                                                                                5/7/10 Today, we found ourselves in the Gulfstream ,watching a beautiful sunrise with Lewis Turner,Brian Taylor and friends as our guest for the day.We first turned our attention to a nice weed line we spotted just inshore of the Steeples. We quickly set our trolling spread and got to the task at hand,to catch big MAHI-MAHI.After several passes we had boated some nice dolphin ranging from 10- 24lbs,the largest a bull. After a few short hours ,the trolling slowed, so we decided to run closer to  shore to finish out the  day bottomfishing around the tower.Black Sea Bass and Grey Snapper were chewing down,so we took advantage of the oppurtunity to finish loading up our fish-box before heading for home                                                                                                                                                    5/1/10 Bullfighter made it's first offshore trip of the 2010  season today. We first ventured out to the Cobalt blue waters of the Gulfsteam to try our hand at some Wahoo and Blackfin tuna. After trolling for several hours with few results,we decided to turn our attention to the bottom. For many bottom species this also marked their season opener, since they had been closed for the past four months. On board today was Brian  Sears and family from Granite Falls NC.Even though we got off to a slow start they still were able to catch their limit of Black Sea Bass and some nice turbo Grunts, beeliners.Next week we will be heading to the Stream for another round but ,this time we ain't stoppin til the Wahoo quits floppin!!                                                                                                                                          2/9/10 Happy Birthday to Wyatt Earl Clewis born around 4:00 this afternoon to proud parents Beth and Rock Clewis                                                                                                                                                1  /31/10Bluefin season
has come and gone,a disappointing season for some and an odd season for all concerned.Congratulations t0 the crew of the FishWhistle, the only Southport boat to put a giant Bluefin on the dock this season. There were several more hook-ups this year, but none were able to sink the gaff.Hopefully ,as we put this strange season behind us,we can reflect back on the 2009-2010 Bluefin season and just appreciate the fact that we were there.                                                                                                                                             12/14/09 The Bluefin Tuna have finally arrived in the Cape Fear area. We received a report of a confirmed hook-up this morning in the Horseshoe area. Although the fish was lost at the boat, that is proof positive that these fish are here.Due to a prior obligation, I was unable to be there this morning.Hopefully if the weather holds the crew of the Bullfighter will be hooked-up ourselves by Thursday  morning.
